Opinion | Take the Deal: Brittney Griner in Exchange for the ‘Merchant of Death’

In November 2011, the notorious Russian weapons trafficker Viktor Bout was sentenced by a New York court to 25 years in prison for his crimes. In February 2022, Brittney Griner, the legendary WNBA basketball player, was arrested in Moscow for allegedly having illegal vape cartridges. Now Russia is reportedly asking for an exchange — the Merchant of Death for the All-Star. Bout provided tons of guns and ammunition to some of the most vicious warlords in the world and empowered them to carry out unspeakable atrocities. He is responsible for enabling murderous groups to kidnap and train thousands of child soldiers; use rape as a systematic method of terror and control; torture through the mass amputations of arms, legs, ears and lips; slaughter civilians, and help the Taliban take power in Afghanistan. Griner may have been carrying vape cartridges that were banned in Russia but not in much of the world. There is no parity in the negotiations or symmetry in the lives or actions of the two

Brittney Griner pleads guilty to drug charges

Brittney Griner pleaded guilty to drug charges as her trial continued in Russian court on Thursday, admitting to bringing cannabis into the country but saying she had packed in a hurry and did not intend to break the law. The Phoenix Mercury Center and Olympic medalist could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. It was Griner's second court appearance since her trial began in earnest last Friday. A judge had previously ordered her to be detained for the length of the trial, which her lawyer has said could last up to two months and will likely involve several hearings by the prosecution before the defense gets its turn. Another hearing is scheduled for next Thursday. 'Thor: Love and Thunder' review: How Taika Waititi ruined the fun himbo Avenger

With a rock n' roll soundtrack and a bevy of beloved stars, Thor: Love and Thunder seemed poised to be a victory lap for Taika Waititi. After helmer Alan Taylor's Thor: The Dark World went over like a wet fart in 2013, this charismatic writer/director/actor not only rebranded the titular God of Thunder into an adorkable himbo for Thor: Ragnarok but also cast himself as the lovable rock creature Korg. Waititi also introduced thirst trapping to the MCU by way of a strapped Valkyrie, a naked Hulk, and a long-established sex symbol, Jeff Goldblum. Fans would likely have been giddy for more of the same in Waititi's follow-up. But while a bunch of the characters we've loved return for this fourth installment, the thrill is gone. Thor: Love and Thunder is a mess that can't make sense of what matters.  Co-written by Taika Waititi and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, Thor: Love and Thunder picks up with its eponymous Avenger galavanting around space with the Guardians of the Galax

'Thor: Love And Thunder' puts the pedal to the (heavy) metal, again

Marvel's Thor: Love And Thunder follows in the footsteps of the much-loved Thor: Ragnarok. Both are directed by Taika Waititi, and both offer a lighthearted take on the godlike superhero, played again by Chris Hemsworth. The new film introduces Christian Bale as a villain named Gorr, The God Butcher, and brings back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster — who now wields Thor's hammer.

Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Generation Gap’ On ABC, A Kelly Ripa-Hosted Game Show Where Kids And Seniors Answer Questions About Each Others’ Generations

If the idea behind the new game show Generation Gap looks familiar, it’s because Jimmy Kimmel did segments like this on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where seniors and kids try (and mostly fail) to answer questions about the other’s generation. Kimmel is one of the executive producers of this series; it’s taken 3 years for this show to go from a network pickup to actually hitting the air, which is a long time even with the pandemic factoring in. Was it worth the wait? GENERATION GAP: STREAM IT OR SKIP IT? Opening Shot: In a scene from Season 1, host Kelly Ripa asks a question about a Transformer that’s a Beetle (we think it’s Bumble Bee), and the senior who tries to answer it says “Paul McCartney.” The Gist: Generation Gap is a comedy game show that pits two teams, each consisting of one teen or preteen and one senior citizen. For instance, the first episode has a kid and his 70-year-old great aunt vs another kid and his 75-year-old grandmother. Ripa asks the younger contestants questions about

Kelly Ripa drops a brutal and hilarious twist at the end of her new game show 'Generation Gap'

The new game show from, Generation Gap, premiered Thursday night on ABC. Kelly Ripa hosts the show and asks trivia questions about topics decades apart. The premiere was not particularly gripping, as one family answered the majority of the questions, but the bonus prize featured a hilarious twist. After 75-year-old Marilyn and her 14-year-old grandson Nolan won $24,250, they were given a chance to increase their winnings with a bonus prize. The only catch was the bonus round was called “Toddler’s Choice,” which meant the youngest member of the family got to select the bonus prize. The two prizes 5-year-old Andrew was allowed to choose from were a brand new car and a scooter. The Kia Niro LXS starts just below $25,000 and the Razor Crazy Car Shift can be had for less than $300. While the decision may seem simple to an adult, production made sure the announcer pushed the scooter hard. “Drive and drift forwards and backwards, sideways and diagonally at speeds up to 12 miles per hour in a
